yep, that's a FORAGE bow tie on the cover of metro detroit bride magazine.
feeling a little under the weather and trying to catch up on email, i discovered the best surprise waiting in my inbox... sarah (of the small object) sent us a drawing of the cake topper she made for our 10th anniversary. i'm madly in love with her new drawings.
the recent issue of mollie makes magazine features a story about creative couples. it's not always easy working with your partner, but we love the collaborative process and can't imagine it any other way.
it's our favorite holiday and we're adding all sorts of new goodies to the shop. click over to see what's new!
special thanks to new england gala wedding magazine for including our FORAGE bow ties in the january issue!
we made limited edition, paper chain kit for a special project and have a few left over. each kit comes with enough links to create an 8ft swag. no tape, glue, or staples are needed because the links have interlocking tabs. each kit is packaged in a kraft paper tube with a letterpress printed label. visit our shop to pick out your favorite color!
kinfolk volume two video by andrew & carissa gallo
hands down, the most inspiring thing to happen in 2011: KINFOLK! volume two went on sale this week - what a perfect way to end the year. we're happy that it's available for digital tablets this time, but we'll be getting the print edition also - it's that beautiful!
today, on the martha stewart craft department blog we're sharing one of our favorite ways to wrap gifts... using color copies made from vintage portraits. you may remember the first time we played with this idea a few holidays ago. we love the idea of using a signature gift wrap each year. this one will certainly stand out and add some unexpected personality under your tree.
we spent the weekend in NYC for the holiday craft sale at the divine studios. we had the best neighbours ever: erin jang of the indigo bunting, sue eggen of giant dwarf and walter & margaux from peg and awl... not bad company!
special thanks to laura kaesshaefer and the crafts department at martha stewart for inviting us.
this year, martha stewart's craft department invited a few of their favorite bloggers (eek!) to be a part of a holiday challenge. inspired by the wrapping arsenal from december's issue of living, we were asked to create unexpected gift wrap using inexpensive materials.
also sharing how they are wrapping gifts this year will be creature comforts, shimtokk, and hello sandwich (killer line-up, right). find more info on the martha craft dept blog and find the schedule for next week's show & tell.

as if you needed another reason to adore miss james & aubrey... here's a sneak peek of thier big day. ugh - it's so good!
we're excited to announce that FORAGE bow ties can now be found at douglas + bec in auckland, new zealand. we love this shop for it's curated, quirky assortment.
rebecca snelling and paul dowie who started douglas + bec, were recently featured in M2 magazine in this article highlighting their work/life aesthetic. we love their ability to use clean lines in warm materials with just a few hints of color.
thanks to erin jang from the indigo bunting we're obsessed with this little printer from berg. how have we been living without it? 2012 never seemed so far away.
design by erin jang
we've never been more excited about a craft show. it's a dream come true to be a part of this very special holiday sale. we've designed a special collection of six new FORAGE bow ties just for this show and i can't even tell you how much we love them. it's our best collection yet. seriously. if you're in NYC please come say hello - seeing familiar faces will make our day.
if you happen to flip through the winter issue of studios magazine, you'll find pair of familiar faces. in the article, we share the background story of our print shop and all the tools we've been collecting. but here's the real news - we mention the name of a new project we're launching in may. shhh... it's still a secret.
thanks to west elm & etsy for hosting the handmade holiday mini market. we had a great time meeting new people and hanging out with peg and awl, kaye rachelle, giant dwarf, & girls can tell. our favorite part was seeing photos and tweets from friends who did the same event in other cities. shout out to ryan & lucy of berkley illustration who killed it in portland with this set up.
thanks to kaitlyn and kristin from philadelphia style for featuring our FORAGE bow ties in the gift guide segment for fox 29's good day morning show.
tonight: west elm is hosting a national handmade holiday event this thursday night! each of their 37 stores will be showcasing local etsy designers in a mini market and giving holiday ornament workshops to benefit local charities.

i'm obsessed with the new book interwoven by the ladies of 3191. inspired by the amazing yarn from quince & co, mav gathered inspiration and color palettes while stephanie developed handmade designs. the book shares simple processes to make your own necklaces, bracelets, and headbands - it's so good!
after adding post-it notes to nearly every page, i visited the quince & co online shop and went a little crazy buying lots of american wool yarn. it's absolutely beautiful.
also from mav & stephanie, i adore 3919 quarterly...

this past weekend, we set up a small FORAGE shop at the art star bazaar in philadelphia. our favorite part of doing these shows is seeing old friends (giant dwarf, red prairie press, chez sucre chez, brainstorm) and making new ones (adam smith, girls can tell, farmhaus, kinship press, yard sale press). thanks to everyone who came by to see us especially jahn from bklyn dry goods.
we have a few more pop-ups planned during the next few weeks - if you're in new york or philadelphia, you'll have another chance to come see us and get a bow tie for your favorite fella. keep checking back here and we'll tell you where & when to find us
